Mothers Day

May 3 2010

ALright amazing week. We got to hear as did Elder Farley an apostle of Jesus Christ as well, it was so cool to sit as his (Elder M Russel Ballard's) feet and hear council, he is the one that headed up preach my gospel and what a spiritual experience was that! Power came from his voice and touched me to step up my game and become a more effective missionary! Transfers is closing and mothers day is coming closer and closer, im sure excited to talk to my dear mother so she can be calmed down for another six months hopefully haha by the end of next transfer ill be out here for a year! crazy. The mission conference was the whole mission so everyo was there! The first pic of the of us is Elder Evans, the one who trained me, and elder Browning, the one i trained so thats our "posterity pic" as the refer to it in the mission. the other one is the group of missionaries that i came out of the MTC with, pretty cool to be together again, we bonded so close in the MTC as im sure Britt is too! I also had the opportunity to bless the sacrament at church and man i love doing that, it is so spiritual to be able to bless the bread and water and i took for granted the years i got to do it in the homeward. Everything is looking great though. Im so happy and so blessed to be in the position im in, we have president interviews on friday which is always a huge blessing as well, I love you all, im grateful for your love and prayers and I know that the success im having in life can be attributed to the people behind the production, Keep the faith and look forward with optimism, britts quote was on point, i think he said dont look with the eyes of man, look with the eyes of faith. Family get some questions ready for when i call, i only have like and hour and a half.
Much Love,
Elder Iasone Schallenberger

Hey Hey Hey

April 26, 2010

HEy this one will be short, this week was good nothing really too exciting i dont think excpet for myesha fasted and prayed along with us and she knows and has a witness of the truth and divinty of this church, its so cool when people receive an answer on their own through prayer from the spirit than from anyone telling them, its so much more sure that way/ So that was a big blessing besides that elder pese's mom went to hawaii and got me a sweet ukelelee its so nice i assume haha i havent gotten it yet but i was stoked cause i was going to buy one hear but they didnt have any real good ones so i got an origional that is going to be sweet, we will send some songs your guys' way! Im just enjoying it out here so much it was cool to get blades email too! that sounds like a lot of fun, Well Have a good week, sorry last email was better but it was one of those blah kind of weeks! thanks for all the support.

A week that makes the mission the best two years!

April 19, 2010

Hey sorry if this email is huge i included some photos but this week was just so cool! So many blessings coming our way from all of our hard work, this week we were knocking doors and this lady was really nice, we asked her if we could do any service for her and you could tell she wanted us to but said no so that was that but then like 40 minutes later she was driving down this street and flagged us down and said that she had been praying and asking God if he would send some help her way and then we knocked on the door, she said she was so humbed and so embarrassed that she said no but then she went looking for us and found us on a different street and ask for help so we went and helped her and are going back to help her some more it was pretty cool. Also Myeasha a lady we have been teaching came to church and she had a headache all through church and throughout the rest of the day, she has had questions about the spirit world and the after this life and also about the whole spirits being different from our physical bodies and she said she tried aeverything she could to get the headache to leave and so she turned the tv on at 4:00 in the am and she was just flippin through channels which she never does and there wa a discussion or talk on that exact subject that made it clearer for her, It was just such a huge blessing but the thing was as right as she was done watching it and studying it her headeache went away, immediatley, Elder Pese and I have been trying to be so obediant and work so hard and we are starting to see a couple of the lords blessings in tremendous ways, also a lady that Elder Asay and I were teaching for a couple weeks before i got transferred just got baptised last sunday it was so cool to hear from her and to hear how she was doing she's such an awesome lady, well family keep the faith I love ya'll.

New Beginings

April 12, 2010

Wow talk about work. I've never been so tired on the mission. We have been tracting and tracting some more. Talking to everyone we see and I've never been more excited for the future so much! Elder Pese is the man we have so much fun, he has been showing me a new way to do things and I've been showing him things he never does and we are growing so much, we just laugh all day long, he like a lot of the same thins as i do which helps a lot. I'm so excited for Britt! Tomorrow is the big day for him man am I excited! We pretty much aren't teaching anyone right now, the people we were with weren't progressing so we had to move on. But this transfer has a lot of promise. Also we have a special mission wide meeting on May 1st! Some general authorities will be in town for a leadership training and thought they'd spend a couple hours with us missionaries, rumor has it that it's Ballard but who knows, All i know is that I'm so excited! The weather has been pretty warm so that helps make us more tired but we just keep pushing forward with faith and wait with patience for the blessings. I've been reading the old testament and have been reading about the heroics of people like Samson and David, and how much courage they had and it helps me to be more courageous. It's kind of like that primary song I always sing with the guitar, (the words probably aren't the same, its the j-schally version)
I'm trying to be like Jesus, In all that i do and say
I'm trying to be like Jesus, In every single way
Sometimes I am tempted to make a wrong choice,
But the spirit whispers in a still small voice saying
Love one another as Jesus loves you,
Try to show kindness in all that you do,
be gentle and loving in deed and in thought
For these are the things Jesus taught!
or i guess for me its more like
I'm trying to be like Jesus, by being a missionary
I'm trying to be like Jesus, even though sometimes its scary
Sometimes I am tempted to just throw it in,
But then I receive comfort from my father in heaven saying
Love one another as I have loved you
Try to show kindness in all that you do!
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought!
Cause that's what my son always taught!
Jesus Christ was the best missionary ever he was the prince of peace and because of his suffering in the garden of Gethsemane and on the cross we can return to our Heavenly Father, that's the message we as missionaries share everyday, I know that I am out here for a reason and Have gained so much experience through trials and through the joys that this message brings. I love ya'll and am grateful for the support i get!

Hey Hey Hey

April 5, 2010

Well the sun is definetly shining even though its a rainy day in californi-a. Transfers were this weekend. Im now with Elder Pese, hes samoan from hawaii. So much fun we will have hes a hard worker and really good at ukelelee :):) He came from the park hill ward in hemet, my old ward, also Elder Jensen one of my best friends in the misson is in the same district as me and elder asay is a zone away so ill see him at multi zones. So im excited for this transfer. I have a new address as of the 14th of this month. (meaning if you write me on or after the 14th write the new one. its:
Elder Jason Schallenberger
5900 Grand Ave.
Riverside, CA 92504
so the arlington ave one is out, this mission office has moved places. Conference was amazing what great council was that that we got. I know that we are in times where we need to become more grounded on our foundations that are built upon jesus christ. we need to have a better relationship with the spirit and learn to recognize when we are being prompted to do something. (if you want to learn more go to britts farwell in two weeks, he'll be talking on that) NOw time for some shout outs. Courtney congradulations! Rob congradulations on being accepted to ohio state. Kiz hope you had a good birthday. Ryal im excited for the big day too! and anyone else that needs a shout out as well. Our family and friends are all growing up and having some great things. We are so blessed. This week as for missionary work was tough, a lot going on but at the same time nothing going on, it was hard with the holiday to meet with people, and conference basically took up two days. I love you all and am excited for what the future has in store for all of us. Your in my prayers i love ya'll.

hola! tuve otro semana bien

March 29, 2010

Hey well pretty much we have no one thats progressing so weve put an added measure of tracting in, and we are starting to see the blessins of that. I lost an "agreement" with mama P and had to wash all the windows in the house, im not all the way done with them yet. Elder Babcock was sick on tuesday which was a bummer but i was able to study a ton and get a lot more knowledge. I love the scriptures so dearly. Im excited for britter too hes so close to getting to head out. Im really excited for transfers this weekend, its always fun to see where everyone goes and also general conference is going to be so fun, Its like a holiday. We got to go to the temple this week and it was really cool, we only get to go there every three months so that was a huge blessing. I was thinking the other day and ill be talking to you all pretty soon mothers day is coming quicker than you think! It seems like last week i was talking on the phone at christmas! doesnt it feel the same for you mom? haha just kidding. Well i know this is short but i brought my camera today so ill attach somepictures, not really too recent but meh i think they'll work. I love ya'll!!

Another Monday

Mar 22, 2010

Hey it seems as though the lsat weeks have been not the most successful or the most rewarding! But you just have to contine to put your shoulder to the wheel right? Im excited that Britt is getting so close to being able to experience this mission stuff. It is so rewarding and has been the biggest blessing in my life. I was a scrub before! At church on sunday (maybe it was last sunday) The lady that gave the closing prayer gave a talk i think, she was praying and then all of the sudden was like, "I was watching the news this morning", and then she went off about all these earthquakes and stuff and i didnt know how to take it, it was pretty funny, I was giving the "furley" (sp) face to my comp. Afterwards i told Albert that thats not exactly how we should pray haha but its been a scorcher lately, its been a lot warmer and after lunch the exhastion of tracting all day starts to set in, thats pretty much all we do is tract since we arent teaching a ton of people. BUt what can ya do, i have a good tan now, (from my collarline down) I would have to say that the highlight of the week was that farley the fiddler (aka brother fransisco) put on a show for us and thats pretty much who im aspiring to be, hes going to need a relacement, so i bought what used to be know as a jews harp today and have been working on learning that. Also if you want to see him he said hes all over youtube, he plays at disney land for a living. BUt yeah hmmm it seems like time is flying by! I was tracting and looked down on at a newspaper that was on the ground and guess who was on the front page, Joselyn Tinkle haha it was cool it was of her blocking a girls shot from UCR which is one of the local teams here, its funny to see her and good to know that shes playing! Today I have a big match at one of the deacons houses. We're playing tennis. Hes really good so it should be interesting, then we have dinner there and a lesson at there house with another family and then another lesson, thats pretty much the day, today we had a really good breakfast that a lady made for our district. U.S. Missionaries are spoiled haha. Well i love to hear how things are going for everyone. Please remember who you are and make sure to try and see as much conference coming up as you can. Im so excited to see the council that is given from the general authorities of the church. Also That weekend is transfer, most likely im staying one more but who knows! Well I love ya'l.
